The Doe Castle on a beautiful site on Sheep Haven Bay. Moat on the landward side has been hewn out of the rock.The castle is first mentioned in 1544 in connection with internecine wars between the sons of MacSweeney Doe.Red Hugh O’Donnell attacked the castle unsuccessfully in 1601.After that castle was granted by the Crown to Rory O’Donnell.Then castle was taken by the MacSweeneys in 1606 again.
